Blue Marlin SeasonCarolinas
Blue Marlin season off the Carolinas peaks Jun–Aug: that's when at least half of the 4 ports we track are at peak. June is the hottest, with 4 of 4 ports at peak. Fishable somewhere off the Carolinas May–Oct.
Bars: share of the 4 ports at peak (orange) and fishable (blue) each month. Number = ports at peak.
The Gulf Stream position dictates everything off the Carolinas. When the current swings within 20 miles of the beach in June through August, Oregon Inlet and Hatteras have short runs to legitimate marlin grounds. When the stream pushes out to 60 miles, the fishing is still there but you are burning fuel to find it. Check the satellite sea surface temperature charts the night before and commit based on current position, not calendar.

Where this comes from
Every window here is rolled up from the port calendars on this site, and each port page cites its sources. Peak means the port's sources call it the best stretch; fishable means the fish are around but not at their best. Water temperature and bait move these windows every year. Check state and federal regulations before you leave the dock. Not legal advice.
