Yellowfin are a summer and fall target in the Northeast, concentrated at Hudson Canyon and the surrounding shelf breaks. Montauk and Point Judith have the most direct access; Gloucester runs longer but reaches the same fish on productive days. July through November is the window, with August and September being the core. The fish follow warm-core eddies pushed north by the Gulf Stream — when the eddies spin close, the canyon edge lights up.

Where this comes from
Every window here is rolled up from the port calendars on this site, and each port page cites its sources. Peak means the port's sources call it the best stretch; fishable means the fish are around but not at their best. Water temperature and bait move these windows every year. Check state and federal regulations before you leave the dock. Not legal advice.
